Lolo Vargas is
the main character of a book written by Feliciano Alonso, our teacher of maths.
We asked Feliciano why he wrote the story.
In 1994, he was the head teacher in a secondary school in
Merida. There was a group of troublemakers (some gypsy children who didn’t want
to study) and he decided to teach that group.
One of the children, who was the worst of all, was called Lolo Vargas
(Manuel Vargas), and Feliciano decided to start a story about this boy and to
read it in class. The children liked it a lot so he added a little bit more every
day including things that the students wanted. In the end, he completed a book
and sent it to a publisher.
